Huang Yung-Sung (China Taiwan)

Huang Yung-Sung was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, in 1943. A sculptor by training, he has worked in advertising, the film industry, and as a photographer. His 1967 work -- “Pawn”, considered one of the earliest and most representative readymade installations of conceptual art in Taiwan, was selected to participate in a worldwide exhibition entitled “Global Conceptualism: Points of Origin, 1950s – 1980s”, which was first shown at New York’s Queens Museum of Art, followed by a world tour.
For the last 40 years, Huang Yung-Sung has been art director and publisher of Han Sheng Magazine, designing and producing 200 some books and magazines on Chinese folk art and culture, recording for all times the way of life and wisdom of the Chinese people. In this capacity, he has traveled extensively in China, often personally conducting field research on the subject.
In 2006, Han Sheng Magazine was chosen by TIME Magazine in it’s May 22 issue as being “The Best of Asia”. In the same year, Huang Yung-sung was honored in Beijing with the title, “Keeper of the Watch” on Chinese folk culture.
